Hyderabad Central University-Hindi Entrance Test
1) M.A. Hindi Language and Literature: Duration of this course is two years. The programmes focus on the functional aspects of the language. The course has Literature Stream and Functional Hindi and Translation Stream. Each stream candidates will be offered separate papers. The specialization will be mentioned in the degree also.
2) M.Phil. programme in Hindi: This is a two semester programme and selected students will have to take take courses on research methodology and advanced literary trends in the course work. They have to write a dissertation in the second semester under the supervision of a guide from the department.
3) Ph.D. programme: This is a full time research programme. Candidates have to go through prescribed course work if they joined without M.Phil. degree. The course work will be for not less than two years from the date of confirmation of admission. Candidates have to appear for written and oral examinations on the course work and the dissertation. They should submit a brief description (in about 500 words) of their proposed topic of research along with application.
Entrance Examination for Hindi Programmes: The entrance test for M.A. Hindi Language and Literature will consist of two parts. These are Part 'A' and Part 'B'. Part 'A' will have objective type multiple choice type and Part 'B' consists of short and essay type questions. There will be 50 percent objective type questions and another 50 percent will be short and essay type questions. The written examination for admission to M.Phil. programme in Hindi will consist of short and essay type questions of M.A. standard. Question paper will be for 75 marks. Out of these, 40 marks will be for questions on the History of Hindi literature, History of Hindi language and General Linguistics, 35 marks objective type questions on the History of Hindi language and literature.
The written examination for Ph.D. consists of test of candidate's scholarship, research aptitude and ability for critical analysis. The question paper will be in two parts : 1. Objective type (35 marks) 2. Short and essay type (40 marks). The questions will be asked from the areas of History of Hindi Language and Literature, literary and linguistic topics of M.A. standard Medieval poetry, Modern literature, Drama and Fiction, Linguistics, Indian and Western Poetics and Criticism, Research Methodology and related topics. Questions also will be given from the translation from Sanskrit to Hindi and English to Hindi.
