The University of Cincinnati (UC) is pleased to announce the new UC Global Opportunity Scholarship! This program will provide two full scholarships – including full tuition, housing, meals, and airfare for a total value of over $150,000 each – to Indian undergraduate students starting their bachelor's degree September 2011. These are the first such scholarships and are being dedicated to students from India who have demonstrated significant academic accomplishments while overcoming substantial social disadvantages, such as poverty or challenging home environments, and have also displayed leadership capabilities. It is our hope that the students will return to India upon graduation to put their education to work for the nation of India or their local community. UC is partnering with the US based nonprofit, Lend A Hand India (LAHI) to find such students. LAHI will accomplish this by working with its partner schools in India who can each submit a recommendation for one student from the school. UC will then review the nominations and invite a small number of students to apply for admission and scholarship assistance. In Brief: The scholarship is available for any major in UC College of Engineering and Applied Science (except Aerospace and Mechanical) The scholarship will cover all educational costs for the student, including tuition, housing, meal plans, airfare to UC, and student health insurance. Only one scholarship will be awarded per LAHI partner high school 10 Indian Students to Receive Half-Tuition Scholarship from UC In recognition of the strong quality of the University of Cincinnati's Indian student population, UC has reserved TEN $12,000 annual scholarships exclusively for high-achieving Indian students starting their bachelor's degree September 2011. These scholarships will be renewable each year that students are in school, and when coupled with the UC Co-op program, will help Indian students pay for the majority of their education.
