APSCHE to do away with Degree Combinations
source;http://www.apcollegeadmissions.com/2011/11/apsche-to-do-away-with-degree.htmlThe Degree Colleges affiliated to Osmania, Andhra and Sri Venkateswara Universities offer Degree programmes in all disciplines with wide variety of combinations. But the authorities are not interested in the usefulness and relevance of those combinations in the changing times. The APSCHE, on the recommendation of various expert committees is working on reducing number of combinations to about 30 from the existing more than 100 combinations.
Micro specializations such as Genetics, Industrial Microbiology, Fisheries, Secretarial Practices, Biotechnology, Computer Science etc are receiving poor response from students as employment opportunities are not available in the job market for graduates in these subjects. Relevant Post Graduate courses are not available for number of other combinations. Students also loosing job opportunities such as Junior Lecturers and Teacher Posts in the public sector as they can not pursue certain professional courses and PG degrees without pursuing them at Graduation level. Traditional combinations such as MPC, BZC, B.Com (General), B.A. General are widely accepted in public sector jobs. Colleges are also not provided with modern facilities and labs to offer advanced specializations. Hence students are not able to find suitable jobs after completing the courses in various narrow specializations like Biotechnology.
